A carnival like atmosphere will see music, dance, food, circus, and heritage themed attractions highlighting the much anticipated Davie Day Street Festival. Four blocks of Davie Street from Burrard to Broughton Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic all day on Saturday, September 11th.
This exciting family day, named after former Premier Davie, will centre around our kick-off this year for the upcoming birthday - Vancouver 125. An impressive heritage zone will feature old-fashioned lollipops, a photographer taking turn-of-the-century pictures, The Sylvia Hotel, and lots to see and do including animals and blacksmith demonstrations in an authentic historical setting.
In the KidZone there will be circus demonstrations, and you can climb aboard an ambulance, or the fun SS Discovery. Our Doggy Zone will round out the attractions with a guest artist, Eric Ginsburg from New York City, who will create whimsical and waggish portraits of man's best friend.
The Concert Stage will add a first class musical component to this exciting day with an eclectic mix of stunning talent from Really Rod (Is he really Rod Stewart?) who will kick off at noon. Rod will be followed by Laurel Murphy, The Rogue Messengers, Kunaka Marimba, Jessica Davidson, and Shawn Khlookoff. Returning by popular demand, the illustrious Kim Kuzma, with her band will be delighting the crowd with her soaring vocal range and sassy stage presence. Kim will end the concert solo! Be sure not to miss it!
All in all, Davie Day promises to be a thrilling and thoroughly entertaining day out for the whole family – including the dog - and it's free! Come celebrate Vancouver’s West End in the Davie Village.
